1. Do I need a BSN to work?

Yes. Your Citizen Service Number (BSN) is mandatory to be allowed to work and to receive a salary.

2. Do I need to take out Dutch health insurance?

Yes, if you work in the Netherlands, you are required to have Dutch health insurance.

3. How quickly will I receive my salary?

In many positions, you are paid weekly or every four weeks. This depends on the employer and specific agreements.

4. What is the minimum wage in the Netherlands?

The minimum wage is the legal minimum amount you must earn per hour. This is regularly adjusted by the government.

5. What are allowances?

Allowances are extra percentages on top of your hourly wage. For example, for evening, night, or weekend work.

6. Do I receive holiday pay?

Yes. You are entitled to a minimum of 20 vacation days for a 40-hour work week. You accrue vacation days during a full-time work week.
