What are you going to do?

As a Packing Assistant at this company, you will be packing peppers on the assembly line. This is because the company is not only a bell pepper grower, but they also handle the entire packing process themselves. At this location, all the peppers from all the production companies come together. They have a modern packing station, where the peppers are packed in foil: small pack. Here, three different colors are packed together as a mix. After the peppers are harvested, they are sorted by size, weight and color. Many peppers are sold loose in boxes or crates and shipped directly to the customer.

Where will you work?

Company provides extensive service during the Dutch bell pepper growing season in the field of packing, repacking, and sorting (spot) peppers and providing logistical services. Our packing station in De Lier covers 13,000 m2, is fully conditioned and certified on the basis of food safety and is equipped with extensive machinery.


Sorting

During the Dutch bell pepper growing season, members and external customers deliver their fresh crop to us in 300-350 kg bulk bins. Each lot - grower/color/variety - is sorted separately according to customer orders based on KCB standards and corresponding customer specifications in 5 or 10 kg cask (boxes or crates). We operate a 10-line sorting machine with 32 outputs Class I for various size grades and a sorting machine for Class II product. Approximately 50% of all sorted peppers are further packaged in our Flowpacking/Small Packaging department. Our Sorting team works in a day shift.

Packaging

During the Dutch bell pepper growing season, our members land their fresh crop for packing in the Flowpacking/Small Packaging department. In addition, 50% of the product sorted centrally internally is packaged. Our Small Packaging department is responsible for flowpacking and other small packaging, especially of peppers and pointed peppers. This is done according to customer orders and corresponding customer specifications. Our small packaging team works with extensive machinery in a daytime and evening shift. This department is our largest department in terms of both surface area and available (temporary) hours.
