After harvesting, peppers are sorted based on colour, quality (free from damage), weight and shape, often using advanced camera sorting machines. The sorting process mainly distinguishes between red, yellow, orange and green varieties, which are usually packed in boxes or crates and stacked on pallets for distribution.
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Sorting: Visually assessing peppers on the conveyor belt and sorting them by colour (red, yellow, orange, green), quality and size.
• Quality control: Removing defective or substandard products (spots, deformities).
• Packing & Packaging: Placing the sorted peppers in boxes, crates or small packages (flow packs).
• Machine operation: Working with or alongside automated sorting machines that sort peppers.
• Labelling: Ensuring the correct labelling of the packages.
• Cleaning: Keeping the workstation clean and tidy.
Job Requirements
- You would like to work in horticulture.
- You can work independently.
- Flexible attitude and good motivation.
- You are physically strong.
- You can ride a bicycle.
- You can stand for a long time
- Preferably you speak English or Polish

The company you will be working for, Hoogweg Paprikakwekerijen B.V, is a bell pepper nursery that grows bell peppers at five locations in the Netherlands, covering an area of 160 hectares, or about 320 soccer fields. They started in Nootdorp in 1987 and later moved to Luttelgeest.T
