Charlie works

Logistics is a sector in motion. From distribution centers to warehouses: behind every shipment is a team of people who make the difference. And the great thing is: you often don’t need a diploma to get started. What you do need? The right skills. In this blog, you’ll read which skills are most in demand by employers in logistics and how you can respond to that with or without experience.

1. Reliability: on Time and Available

In logistics, everything revolves around timing. Orders need to be sent on time, trucks need to be loaded before they depart. That’s why reliability is one of the most important qualities employers look for. Arriving on time, keeping your appointments, and communicating well if something changes: that’s how you really make a difference on the work floor.

2. Physical Endurance

Many logistics jobs are active: you walk, lift, pack boxes, and work at a steady pace. This means that good physical condition is important. You don’t need to be a top athlete, but a bit of muscle strength and a good work attitude will take you far. Especially if you work in shifts, it’s nice if you can start your day energetic and fit.

3. Team Spirit and Communication

Whether you work as an order picker, loader, or reach truck driver: you rarely work alone. In logistics, you’re part of a team, and cooperation is crucial. You need to be able to consult, coordinate, and help each other to make the day run smoothly. A good atmosphere on the work floor starts with people who can work well together.

4. Language Proficiency: Dutch or English

Working safely means: understanding what is asked of you. That’s why basic knowledge of Dutch or English is often required. Think of safety instructions, work notes, or communication via a walkie-talkie. At Charlie works, we help you with this. Many locations offer guidance in your language, so you quickly feel at home.

5. Accuracy and Sense of Responsibility

In a warehouse, it’s important to work precisely. You need to collect the right products, check if everything is correct, and report damages. Employers are looking for people who are careful, not only for customer satisfaction but also for safety on the work floor.

6. Technical Insight or Willingness to Learn

More and more logistics functions use technology: think of order pickers with scanners, automated systems, or automated means of transport. Do you already have experience with machines or are you willing to learn this? Then you have an advantage.

Through Charlie works, you can also obtain certificates that increase your chances of employment, such as:

  • VCA (Safety, Health, and Environment)
  • Forklift certificate
  • Reach truck certificate
  • EPT certificate (electric pallet truck)
