The housing market in the Netherlands
The housing market in the Netherlands can be very challenging. In the larger cities, it is difficult to find affordable housing, especially for migrant workers. In popular cities, such as Rotterdam or Amsterdam, the price of a room in a shared house can be as low as €600 – €800 per month. Also, rental agreements are often for at least a year or longer. For this reason, Charlie helps you find a place to live near your work. Should your home be slightly further away from your work, Charlie works can also qualify you for transportation, such as a loaner car, bicycle or organized transportation to work.
Housing organized by Charlie
When you come to work in the Netherlands, it is of course very important that you have somewhere safe and comfortable to stay. The housing arranged by Charlie works meets the housing standards laid down in the collective labor agreement for temporary workers. Because Charlie works is a member of the ABU, the housing accommodations are checked according to the standards of the Stichting Normering Flexwonen (SNF). Among other things, the housing must be well maintained, clean and also equipped with basic amenities such as a heater, bed, bathroom and kitchen.
Complaints
Have you been offered housing from Charlie works and are experiencing problems or something is defective? We hate to hear that, because we want the housing to be okay! If there is a complaint, you can contact Charlie and in case of real emergencies, you can get in touch with your contact person, and we will solve it as soon as possible.
Rent termination
The rental agreement automatically ends when you leave employment with Charlie works. After leaving employment, you have three days to vacate the property. If you need longer than three days to find other housing, you can submit a request to Charlie works, after which you may continue to live in the housing for up to four more weeks. Are you moving and want to terminate the rental agreement yourself? Then you are required to do so in writing to Charlie works with one week’s notice.
Vacations
Are you going on leave longer than 14 days? Then you will receive an e-mail from Charlie asking you to reserve your sleeping place for the period you will be away. If you do not respond to this, the place will automatically remain reserved and the rent will continue. If you decide not to reserve the place, Charlie supports will contact you to make arrangements for your return and continued use of the property.
