At Charlie works, we are looking for an ambitious, energetic, and results-driven Business Development Manager to strengthen our commercial team. As a Business Development Manager, you play a key role in driving the commercial growth of Charlie works by identifying, approaching, and securing new clients.
You are a true hunter with a strong commercial mindset. You actively explore the market, identify business opportunities, and take the initiative to connect with potential clients. Whether this means making cold calls, arranging meetings, networking, or simply walking into a company to introduce yourself, you are confident and determined to create opportunities.
You understand the needs of potential clients and know how to translate them into attractive, commercially sound staffing solutions. You build relationships, negotiate rates and contractual conditions, and work towards establishing profitable, long-term partnerships.
You take ownership of your sales pipeline, monitor your performance against clearly defined KPIs, and continuously look for ways to improve your results.
We are looking for someone who combines excellent social and communication skills with commercial determination, a proactive attitude, and a genuine passion for sales.
This is a full-time position, with regular visits to prospective clients and business partners.
Here is what you will be in charge of:

  • You are responsible for actively identifying, approaching, and acquiring new clients, contributing directly to the commercial growth of Charlie works.
  • You proactively generate new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, company visits, referrals, and other sales activities.
  • You confidently approach potential clients, including through unannounced visits, and create opportunities to introduce Charlie works and its staffing solutions.
  • You build and maintain strong professional relationships with decision-makers, understanding their business needs, operational challenges, and staffing requirements.
  • You prepare and deliver convincing commercial proposals and presentations, demonstrating the added value of working with Charlie works.
  • You negotiate commercial rates, margins, contractual terms, and service conditions, ensuring agreements are both competitive and financially attractive for Charlie works.
  • You take ownership of the entire sales process, from initial prospecting and first contact to negotiations, contract agreements, and successful client onboarding.
  • You actively manage and develop your sales pipeline, ensuring consistent follow-up and converting opportunities into new business.
  • You work with clear sales targets and KPIs, continuously monitoring your performance and taking action to achieve or exceed commercial objectives.
  • You identify market developments, competitor activities, and potential growth opportunities, translating these insights into concrete commercial actions.
  • You collaborate closely with operational teams to ensure that commercial agreements are realistic, achievable, and aligned with the organization’s capabilities.
  • You maintain accurate and up-to-date information about prospects, client interactions, sales activities, and commercial agreements in our internal systems.
  • You represent Charlie works professionally at client meetings, networking events, and other commercial opportunities.
  • You consistently consider profitability, operational feasibility, and the long-term interests of Charlie works when developing new business.

Job Requirements
  • You have MBO/HBO-level education or equivalent working and thinking ability, preferably in Sales, Business Administration, Commercial Economics, or a related field.
  • You have relevant experience in business development, B2B sales, account management, or a similar commercial position. Experience in the staffing industry is considered a strong advantage.
  • You are a natural hunter with a strong commercial drive and a genuine passion for acquiring new clients and developing new business.
  • You are confident, outgoing, and socially skilled, with the ability to easily connect with people at different organizational levels.
  • You are not afraid of cold calling, approaching unfamiliar companies, or walking into a potential client's office to introduce yourself and create opportunities.
  • You have excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and know how to build trust and establish lasting professional relationships.
  • You are a confident negotiator who can discuss rates, margins, and contractual conditions while protecting the commercial interests of Charlie works.
  • You are highly results-driven, motivated by targets, and comfortable working with clearly defined sales KPIs.
  • You are proactive, independent, and persistent, with a hands-on mentality and the determination to turn opportunities into results.
  • You have strong commercial awareness and understand the importance of balancing client satisfaction with profitability and operational feasibility.
  • You are resilient and comfortable handling rejection, objections, and challenging negotiations without losing motivation.
  • You are well-organized and capable of managing multiple prospects, appointments, and commercial opportunities simultaneously.
  • You have strong communication skills in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
  • You hold a valid driving licence (Category B) and are willing to travel regularly to prospective clients and business partners.
